Many countries are getting wealthier day by day. However, there are still some countries who are in need. Because of this, many people are discussing whether wealthy countries should give foreign aid to poorer countries or not. Put simply, a foreign aid refers to any type of assistance that one country voluntarily transfers to another, which can take the form of a gift, grant, or loan. Most people tend to think of foreign aid as money, but it can also be food, supplies, and services such as humanitarian aid and military assistance. However, there are still countries out there in the world who are suffering, yet they still don’t get foreign aid. I think this is wrong, and wealthy countries should give foreign aid to poorer countries because it alleviates poverty and boosts development, and also because it boosts stability. First of all, wealthy countries should give foreign aid because it alleviates poverty and boosts development. If wealthy countries give foreign aid, it could reduce poverty and give better lives to citizens living there. Also, it could help countries to develop and they could take better care of their citizens, since the other country is helping them as well. For example, funding things like education, health care, food, security, and a lot more. If these systems are kept in good working order, then the country will keep on developing into a better country with a stronger economy. Like this, foreign aid can easily develop and help a country to grow its middle class and much more. So that is my first reason why I think wealthy countries should give poorer countries some foreign aid. Next, I think that countries with good living standards should give foreign aid to poorer countries because it boosts stability. The mechanism is simple: lots of poor countries don't have effective police or armies (in other words, they have ungoverned spaces). This is a problem because there will be more terrorists and criminal gangs and other groups which are harmful towards the citizens living in the society. However, if we do help these poor countries’ governments, there would be more control within the country and there would also be less space for terrorists or criminals to operate from. But if we don’t act this way, the government will lose control of their country, which would lead to civil war and end in absolute chaos and a lot of deaths. So, it would be better to help a government to remain strong rather than letting the government fail. So in conclusion, wealthy countries should give foreign aid to poorer countries because firstly, it alleviates poverty and boosts development, and because it boosts stability as well. For these reasons, we can clearly see that giving countries foreign aid is the best option out of all. That’s why we think wealthy countries should give foreign aid to countries in the future, or better yet, the status quo. |
