“Liv!” a sharp voice pierced through my thoughts, distracting me, “I’m turning off the lights now, okay? Don’t complain and just sleep. Now!”

I gritted my teeth as Sarah slammed the door and trotted out of the room in her stiletto heels. We’re both fourteen, both too young to do makeup and wear fancy clothes. Sarah declared a week ago that she was two minutes older than me, so she had the right to boss me around and wear makeup. I smirked and rolled my eyes at the thought, sighed, took off my fluffy slippers and plopped onto my bed.

The stars gleamed like beautiful ornate balls outside my window. I closed my bloodshot eyes. I was so relieved to see nothing but darkness.

Rap-a-tap-tap. A sound rattled aloud in my ears. My eyes flew open and I bolted upright to see what was making the disturbing noise. I peeked out at my window and was shocked to see that it was morning already. I grunted and opened the door. Sarah was standing there, yawning, and rapping the door breathlessly. As soon as she saw me standing on top of the bed, she shrieked and squeezed me tight. I would have almost popped like a fragile bubble. Did Sarah finally become normal again? I thought, biting my lips. However, there was something else. Even with the same rosy makeup, she still looked a little bit more mature than usual.

“Liv! Remember? Today’s the day!” Sarah sang. I had no idea what she was talking about. I cleared my throat and started to speak when Sarah put her fingers over my mouth. “Liv- I know you’re sick of me saying it but we are both going to Oxford University! So- ready for our big celebration party at CloudLand?”

I plastered a fake smile on my face and nodded cheerfully. I had no clue what Sarah was saying, but somehow CloudLand sounded familiar. Sarah beamed, and hauled me to the makeup room. I had never been to Sarah’s makeup room before because she had banned me from using it; however, the room was everything a girl could imagine- walls covered in pink glitter, all kinds of makeup tools, hundreds of bottles of lip gloss, and a shelf full of aromatic perfumes.

Sarah told me to pick a dress in the closet by the corner while she finished her makeup. “Then I’ll do yours!” she squealed happily. I dashed to the confetti themed closet and threw open the doors. Until then, I literally hated dresses. I loved some of them, but khaki pants and T-Shirts were always the best.

I rummaged through the assortments of dresses until I found a perfect one that fitted me. A turquoise dress with a perfect amount of pearls embedded in it. Sarah gasped as I walked in with my costume on. She clapped her hands and immediately piling lipstick, blushes, and eye shadows that would go with me well. She was a very talented artist- it was as if she was delicately painting on my face. When she was done, I looked like a completely different person. I gratefully thanked Sarah and she proudly nodded her head like a professional artist.

We took a taxi to get to CloudLand. As soon as we saw CloudLand, we both shrieked and laughed jubilantly. I knew in an instant that the place with floating clouds and CloudLand mascots dancing around in them was CloudLand. Sarah and I ate Cloud Ice Cream and rode every single roller coaster there was in the park. We had an exceptional day there.

“Hey, I guess we should sleep. Tomorrow’s Friday and we have to survive a day before the weekend!” I joked. Sarah and I howled with laughter and said goodnight. I took off my soft slippers like always and clicked off the rusty switch. Then, I smiled and tucked myself into bed.

I opened my eyes and excitedly checked my mirror to see if my hair was fine. But something was wrong .My face right now was a young, immature, fourteen-year-old face. I groaned as the truth finally showed up on me. It was all a dream.

Several budensome years had passed. Waiting for the acceptance from Oxford, I went to bed clumsily, knocking over things just like other days. I climbed over to my bed. I was too tired to even think, so as soon as my head hit the pillow, I fell asleep- but I wasn’t in my bed anymore. I was with Sarah, having a great day in CloudLand, chomping down Cloud Ice Cream in a nice dress. Everything was so familiar. I thought it was just Déjà vu so I tried myself to get out of my dream. However, instead of my hands clasping together, praying to get out of my dream, I found an acceptance letter in my hands that said OXFORD UNIVERSITY ACCEPTANCE LETTER. I gawked at it, not knowing what to do. Now, I know I have nothing to worry about, and am totally ready to be overwhelmed with joy at CloudLand.
